Artichoke is a 50-150 cm tall herbaceous plant blooming blue-purple flowers from the family of chamomile. It grows around Southern Europe and the Mediterranean. Artichoke was obtained as a result of selection of the thorny plant, which is known as camel thorn among the people and grows by itself in the countryside. Artichoke is a perennial vegetable. It can remain in its place for 8-10 years and continues to give products. However, for an economical production, the plantation must be renewed every 5-6 years.
