Botanically known as Dipterocarpus turbinatus, Gurjun is native to the Andaman Islands and eastern parts of India. The essential oil of Gurjun is obtained from oleo resin obtained by steam distillation from the forests of Gurjun tree. Discovered as the mother of all healing sciences, Ayurveda is the oldest of all healing systems in the world and has its roots in the depths of ancient history in Indian mythology. The name of this tree is taken from the Greek word meaning iki biped fruits mey. This plant is native to Indonesia and is widely cultivated in India, China, the Philippines, Thailand and parts of the world. Essential Gurjun balsam oil is pale yellow. It has a sweet, refreshing, fresh, woody and spicy aroma.
