70% of the total citrus is produced in Turkey in the Çukurova region. 90% of grapefruit and lemon are produced in this region. While Mersin is in the first place in lemon production, orange is the most produced product in Adana and Hatay. The climatic characteristics of the citrus-producing Aegean and Mediterranean coasts increase the harvest time. The first harvest starts in September with enterdonate lemon in Mersin and continues along the coast from Izmir to the west. The development of lemon trees starts at a temperature of 12 degrees. On average, 23 degrees is the temperature at which lemon develops the fastest. After 37-39 degrees, the development of the lemon tree stops. Cold or hot winds adversely affect lemon trees. It is useful to establish windbreakers against the prevailing winds in the region. In addition, lemon trees are affected by the humidity of the air where they are located. 
 
Like all citrus fruits, lemon trees are best grown in humus, deep, strained (well watered), sandy-loam or clay loamy soils. Lemon tree should never be grown in heavy soils because the roots need to have deep oxygen. Where the lemon is grown, the ground water should be 1.5 m. must be below. Otherwise drainage should be done in the soil. The most suitable soil pH should be 5.5-6 for lemon trees which are sensitive to soil lime.
